So yesterday J and I went to a shooting range. And I learned that yes, I can point a gun, pull the trigger, and it will go roughly where I want it. I also learned that I overheat faster than electronics do. It was mildly entertaining. I'd probably go again, but not on a regular basis

Shooting ranges would be more fun for me if they'd let me tack up pictures of all the people I hate as targets...strangely enough, they frown upon that though. >;)

Out of curiosity, is Aunt A gay? Reason I ask is because it would not surprise me one little bit if more and more straight people were trying for 'domestic partnership' in order to get much-needed health benefits - hell, I'd consider it myself, except that I don't know (though I very much doubt it) that Illinois allows for such.

Healthcare - and marriage/employment - are indeed fucked up royally. :(

Pfft. The range we were at in Plainfield said you have to buy THEIR targets only. It was rather annoying, actually. J had printed out a bunch of 'diagnostic' targets to let me know what exactly I was doing wrong and help correct for it.

Nah, she's bi. And it depends on your employer more than the state. My employer and hers accept certified domestic partnerships as a basis for shared health insurance. And my employer is an Illinois based corporation.
