There is a point in remodeling where I just throw my hands in the air and say, "Good enough for government work!" This is usually about two-thirds of the way through any given project. I have ordained that there will be no more big projects for a long, long time.
we aren't quite good enough for government work because the government is not yet ready to sign off on our electrical wiring. possible because we aren't supposed to just leave random wires, hot with electricity, poking out of the walls with no terminations. Which I find to be really picky of them. I mean, we don't actually have children, we're all adults, don't they trust us to remember not to touch the electrified wires and to be careful about leaving paper near them so we don't start a fire?
the wood trim is all in, though, and the carpets and the pretty interior paint and even the new washer/dryer combo, so those things make me happy. Now we just need to finish the electrical, get the deck re-built so it drains properly, finish our landscaping, have the exterior of the house painted and actually move into the darn thing.
I *am* sorry I was out of touch this weekend! I had a couple days of long hours working, such that Saturday I didn't get up unitl nearly noon. After showering and having breakfast, I didn't feel quite well and laid down on the couch, only to rouse four hours later when it was time for me to head to another event. Then Sunday and today I also had other commitments.
I would still be happy to help move boxes when the rest get moved, as it sounds like there's still moving to be done. And I'd like to see the house too. We should still try to meet for drinks some evening soon...
