Do people still write on livejournal?  Has everyone I know moved to some other place?  Outgrown writing about themselves?  Gotten bored ( Read more... )

People are dumb and spend all their time on facebook. After writing piles of one sentence updates for everyone to see, it feels weird and hard to write long personal entries on livejournal.

I still check about a million times a day.

It's strange, but I too check livejournal about a million times a day even though I infrequently write... I also feel silly now at nearly 30 writing about my day on the internet; I am really not that interesting.

I feel like maybe that's what happened: we all grew up and realized we aren't as interesting as we thought.

That is probably true. I went through a few years ago and made everything old private and was really embarrassed to find all these days where I posted half a dozen times about nothing or terrible overshares.

It is also harder now that when I post something the people that read it are a lot of people I'm around all the time, there's no room to vent or anything because anyone I'd talk about can read it.

I'd like to get back into personal/paper journal style, maybe it will be a summer goal.

I've been tied up with school, writing until my brain bleeds. So I come to LiveJournal and there's just nothing left. I feel burned out on social networking sometimes, too, and tend to withdraw in response.

Also, I had a friend lash out at me on here. I suppose I had reached my quota of online troll bullshit and spent my time dealing with real world problems instead. I used to intentionally read lots and lots of negative stuff and decided to stop.

I suppose I also realized I was more of a private person than I had been in the past. I still read and have found a lot of new communities on here. There might just be a future for this platform after all.

I erase nine of ten comments because they sound silly.

(I always look forward to your posts!)

I have been net journaling since the late 90's. A bunch of my friends still use livejournal.

i have noticed a steady decline of people updating on here. i write on here still quite a lot, but i always decrease how much i write in the summer time because i spend more time outside. I still check it a lot. i love the communities on here! i am also curious to know how many people actually read lj.
