my brother has been asking about me and my son. secretly...its nice to know he thinks about us. He says he wants to be an uncle my son can be proud of. he wants to get to know him. too bad he won't do the work to meet my terms to allow him back in my life. MY terms. Not his. I am not budging. Its nice to know though.

It is nice that he's been thinking about you. And maybe because he is, and that's his attitude about it, MAYBE he might make the changes or at least try to. Either way, goodluck. I know your brother stresses you out.

he probably wont. hes so messed up in the head and the bottle has a stronger calling then his family. lets just say i won't hold my breath. I don't see he him being part of the percentage to beat the booze. I had faih he would one day now i just hope he does and he can send me a post card if or when it does happen.,

I know how that goes. Addiction is a hard thing to deal with in other people. Because it's so hard to fathom why they just can't stop for the things and people they love. I wouldn't hold my breath either, but I wouldn't be able to give up the hope that he may be a real man in the end.
I hope when/if he gets better it's not too late and he hasn't done too much damage to be part of you and your sons life. Uncles are cool people.
