Tara, I'm willing to help. Been looking at trying to get one going intermittantly but lack of riskable money (ie enough for me to pay bills) has scuppered things
Yeah thats the only problem of running your own club. When we used to run The Mausoleum years ago we were lucky that we didnt lose money on venue hire etc etc but the type of music I'd want to play now is quite a bizarre mix and may not be to everyones tastes, hence I thought I'd just go for a 45 minute slot somewhere...
You're behind the times now :-). Although I've not given up my trad goth stuff, I now listen and dance to such bands as Assemblage 23, VNV Nation, Apop and the like. I still don't like all that sort of stuff, but enough that you'll find me on the EBM floor for a bit at SC for example...
At the risk of sounding negative, I don't recommend doing it at the Bunker. I recall Gary having an alleged industrial slot there one Friday last year and not actually playing any industrial, a state of affairs he blamed on a cock-up with the Slaves and the DJs. You wouldn't want that to happen after you'd made the effort to get down to the Bunker, and in any case a town centre/quayside location would be more convenient for most people, and offer more of a chance of attracting passers-by (though having random people wandering in off the street can be a mixed blessing, of course...)
Yes it's all rather confusing me at the moment, I really have been racking my brains trying to think of a suitable venue but there just zilch. I think the only viable option is to go and sweet-talk the dj's at the nameless thing at Volts.....
That's what I'd do! I don't know the usual DJ, Glen, but have heard he's a nice guy, and there is also some kind of university RocSoc involvement down at Volts now, perhaps you could get in with them? I don't think RocSoc DJs are there every week though, you could maybe ask mapp or someone about that for details.

Thanks for those details Matt, I will definately follow that up :-) I totally agree with your suggestions for the frequecy of the event too, I was thinking once a month as well. I dont think it would draw as many people in if it was weekly. Hugs, T xxxx

Personally I'd go for a monthly event, preferably a weekend, *not* the third weekend of the month like every other night in the country...
