Someone who wrote for the cartoon show Futurama loves the Umbrellas of Cherbourg. There is an episode that flashes back to the year 2000, before Fry gets accidentally cryogenically frozen. In the past, he has a dog. Anyway, Fry finds the dog's fossilized body and is about to clone it, when they figure out that the dog was 15 years old when it died

It was the first time I've seen it, but I love the Umbrellas of Cherbourg (it's one of my favorite movies). I've gotten in quite the habit of watching Futurama every day on Cartoon Network, it seems, though. Too bad it was cancelled.
