No news source is unbiased. No political party exists without its own version of propaganda ( Read more... )

"I can't despise Fox news like so many other people seem to, because, while they might hype certain topics up more than any other news station, or discuss subjects in a way I disagree with, it's really not any better for the more "left-wing" stations to slam how "evil" and "awful" and "fear-mongering" the Fox station is."

I can. Fox News spreads lies and inflames prejudices. Liberal sources aren't wrong when they say that.

But it's very true that Democrat-aligned people in the media tend to focus more on the Glenn Becks and Sarah Palins of the world than on the mostly normal conservatives-next-door. So in that sense yes, both sides are tilting at strawmen, and it's not at all productive. That was the point of the sanity rally, and I thought it was quite a good point.

I'm not saying I think liberal sources are wrong, I mainly just think a lot of the liberal side of the media touts themselves as the "always perfectly rational, perfectly even-keeled" party, while simultaneously acting morally superior, and I find that equally annoying as the prejudices the more right-wing sources spout out.

My point was mainly that no news source is unbiased, and I kind of wish that instead of picking out one news source as being "the worst", more people would realize that no news channel is without bias or without their own propaganda.

I listened to air america a lot one summer when I drove a rental car and that was the only station it got. The hatred and vitriol they would spew was so thick and nasty it made me feel ill. These people are fucking sick sick SICK, and they make stuff up just as much as Fox news. Whereas Fox news will interview NAMBLA members that support Obama or something like that (so you think Obama is pro child molestation or maybe a child molester himself, who knows?), Rachel Maddow will say "N-word", "N-word", "N-word" repeatedly in the context of insisting republicans want to say what this mysterious N stands for, although there is no real evidence to suggest anyone but her is harboring this secret desire. Just say nigger Rachel, come out of the closet and you'll be free! You don't have to hide anymore! No more lies! Srsly to hell with these people. That's what you get in democracy. This is kind of an aimless rant so feel free to totally screen or delete. You'd probably be doing us all a favor.

You are welcome to delete it if you wish, of course, but nothing you said bothered me!

I've heard lots of people who love Maddow rave about her, but I've never taken the time to give her a listen...then again, I sometimes intentionally ignore politics because I feel my blood pressure rising whenever I see how petty the whole thing becomes.

Lies like these make my blood boil sometimes, and I'm not comfortable with this. It sounds like you are bothered by some of these violations of the most basic logic and decency as well. I have arrived at the opinion that intentionally ignoring it is actually the best possible thing you can do, but I have already discussed that on my own journal.
