I guess this is sort of a follow-up post to my running entry a little while ago....
After my last run (which was one week ago), I woke up the next morning with pretty severe hip pain as soon as I put weight on it. Now, I don't mean "severe" as in weeping with pain, but it definitely made me wince and I had a slight limp for most of the day. Consequently, the only workout I did last weekend was taking a 2-3 mile walk with my boyfriend.
I tried running again last night, and the same exact pain came back...it's localized specifically in the muscle that seems to "link" the top of my thigh to my hip, actually. Stretching helps a little, but the pain was there all night after an eight minute run. Today, there is pain under both of my kneecaps. When I climbed the escalator, the sharp pain made me wince again.
In short, I don't know what the hell is happening here. It has occurred to me that I need to replace my running shoes, but I am amazed that the symptoms have come upon me so quickly, rather than getting more subtle warnings in the previous months. But this seems to come out of nowhere.
So, really, I'm kind of afraid to do anything high-impact now. If I work out this weekend, I will either have to stick to "brisk walks" (which barely get my heartrate up, even though they're enjoyable), or the exercise bike. I guess the bike can be pretty intense, but I find it pretty boring.
I guess I'm just venting. Sorry to anyone who reads this that my LJ has been a repository for running-related woes lately.
