I just meant my dog needs more attention than I really want to give him and I'm not used to being responsible for anything. I think perhaps a dog needs a family, not just a gal.

well, single in my mind meant sole caretaker of the dog. A roommate or friend who likes the dog would be okay. Dogs are just a lot of work.
