yeah, i guess i am firmly in the not "really" american half. you know, because i don't randomly hate people because of who they sleep with, or because i live on the east coast.
True- but theirs is a more sneaky way of going about it- they don't come right out with simple soundbite statements that translate so well to the rampant mobs upon the speaking...I keep expecting her to exclaim the horror that the salsa was made in NEW YORK CITY???
I was just offended for the first time in any political process as someone who grew up in a "real" blue collar family and as someone who believes that the US is made up of all sorts of people- that think differently from one another, and wear a different shirt, but no one is less "real" than another. The construction guy who's ancestors jumped off the Mayflower is no more or no less an American than the guy who's parents left Palestine 20 years ago that owns the restaurant down the street etc...I can't stand that person in a position of authority will take a person's genuine, yet misguided fear and so blatantly foster it for their own gain.
