“Michelle!” The so-called girl looked up to the edge of the field. She held her bear close, trying to gain confidence from it.

From the edge of the field, as if on cue, Alfred ran into the fields. He was tired and panting by the time he had reached the fields. He was only able to stop a few meters away from the girl. Awkward silence blew between them, sweeping the lush field, teasing their meeting. Michelle smiled and was the first to break the silence between them.

“It’s been a while hasn’t it?”

She had not moved from her sitting position since this morning. The younger girl was looking at the sky with her living teddy bear for the past two hours now.

Alfred smiled and nodded eagerly, glad that his old friend still remembered him, even after many years of separation. “I’m glad that you remember me too.” His mind wanted to get closer to her, to hug her once more, but his body would not respond. He staggered a bit and played with his footwork for a while, not sure how to respond to her. Michelle nodded and looked back up at the blue sky, inspected each and every cloud that happened to fly by. Alfred shuffled his feet in the awkward silence between them.

“So, uh, how have you been?” The younger girl slowly turned her head to face him, her violet eyes meeting his blue eyes. Alfred’s voice seemed to echo the fields, mocking their silence.

“I have been fine, Alfred,” her voice was soft, but Alfred did not care, he was happy enough finding his old friend. His body and mind were connected as one and he was able to walk over to Michelle, without staggering or tripping over anything. He sat down right beside her, his hands folding into his lap. Normally, he would never act like this, but when with Michelle, everything else didn’t matter. He rarely saw her anyways.

---

It had been hours since Alfred set foot in the fields. The two were still there, sitting in the same position they had been sitting in for hours now. They watched clouds fly by, the sun set and the moon rise. When they had finally tired themselves out for the day, the two stood up, without speaking a single word to one another. Michelle carried her bear off while Alfred stood up and dusted his jeans off. They waved a silent good bye and walked off into their own direction.

“…W-would you like to meet up again later?” Michelle’s voice hooked Alfred, stopping him in his tracks. He turned and nodded excitedly. A small chuckle escaped Michelle’s mouth and was followed by a ‘don’t you forget it!’ comment. Alfred assured her that he would never forget something this important.

The two walked off in their own directions, happier than ever and looked forward to next week more than ever
