Summary: Yunho meets Jaejoong and they start dating under unusual circumstances. But can their relationship withstand Yunho’s lifestyle?
Jaejoong wondered aimlessly through the streets of Seoul. It was almost twilight - Jaejoong’s favorite time. The crisp snow had a purplish tint, and all the neon lights were just coming on. Deciding to walk through a park to get to his apartment, Jaejoong turned down the narrow walkway, where he heard a raucous of at least three young men up head. Unsure of whether to continue walking, or just go the longer route, Jaejoong looked around, trying to see if there was anyone who could help.
No one.
Deciding to be brave, he pressed on. As the path bent round, Jaejoong was faced with pure bedlam. One man was kneeling, his face bleeding, while two others were attacking each other with no mercy. Blood was spattered along the fence parallel to the path, and the two were shouting obscenities at each other.
“I thought I told you to stay away from my sister, Rain!”
“You bastard, Yunho! Can’t you see she fucking loves me!”
Wishing he had chosen to turn back earlier, Jaejoong tried to slowly head away without them noticing. However, he stepped on a twig, making a loud snap, and all three of the fighting men stopped and looked at him.
“Who the fuck are you and what the fuck do you want?” asked the one called Yunho.
Jaejoong swallowed loudly.
“I-I-I just, I just came down he-here by accident, um, I am...I was about to er, to go, umm, back. Now.” He let out a nervous laugh.
“Are you a girl or boy?” Again it was Yunho.
“A gi-boy! a boy.”
Yunho raised an eyebrow. Jaejoong cursed. Whenever he got nervous he got flustered, and when he got flustered, he made stupid mistakes like that.
“Look, I’m gonna go now.” And before they could stop him, Jaejoong ran back up the path, back into the street. He started walking briskly home, and stopped at the bridge. Should he cross the river? Jaejoong was superstitious about crossing bridges in twilight. He believed that when you cross, your one true love will put their first foot on the bridge when you take your last foot off it. So far it had never worked, but...
Suddenly Jaejoong heard the sounds of footsteps echoing along the pavement, and he sprinted across the bridge. Just before he left it, he saw Yunho start to run across it.
He looked around him again, but saw no one. Great. Now this stranger was probably going too rape him or murder him. Just great. He ran to his apartment complex, whisked up the stairs and barricaded himself in his flat.
Within seconds, someone was knocking on his door.
“Excuse me! Excuse, let me in please! Look, could you ple-oh fuck this, let me the hell in! It’s very cold out here!”
Jaejoong unlocked the door against his better judgement. It was very cold after all. Yunho strode in, looked at Jaejoong kneeling by the open door, and smirked.
“The amount of protection you have here, you’d think you lived in a castle, not apartment 5B.”
Jaejoong said nothing, but pushed the door shut, and stood up.
“Listen, about earlier, me and Rain, we have an understanding. And Rain violated that understanding. I was just looking out for my sister.”
“Sure. Why are you telling me this?”
Yunho smiled, embarrassed.
“Cos I think you’re cute.”
One week later, and Jaejoong felt like he was on the edge of heaven. Yunho had convinced him to go out on a date, to a nightclub. They’d had fun, until Jaejoong had to much to drink, and Yunho carried him home. In the morning, Yunho looked after Jaejoong, helping him with his hangover. In the afternoon, they’d gone to a park, and Yunho had kissed Jaejoong. Tonight they were going to a resturant.
It was a chinese resturant, and Jaejoong’s personal favorite. Yunho had never been before, and secretly wanted to go have a plain bowl of rice. That was until he tasted the wonton soup.
“You look absolutely fabulous tonight, Jaejoong.”
Jaejoong choked on his seaweed.
“Are, you’re so cute and innocent. I love that about you. And,” Yunho paused, looking uncertain. “And I think I love you, Jaejoong.” Yunho expected more gagging sounds, but when he looked back at Jaejoong, the latter was smiling broadly at him.
“I love you too, Yunnie.”
They walked home through the streets of Seoul, holding hands. Jaejoong could sense that Yunho was a dangerous person - he could tell that from how they had met. But, somehow, the danger didn’t feel real at night. Jaejoong didn’t feel like someone was going to jump out and attack them, like he secretly had for the past week.
How very wrong he was.
They were about to cross ‘their’ bridge, when two tall men appeared. Jaejoong recognized one of them immediately as Rain, but did not know the other.
“Yunho, Yunho Yunho. We’ve been looking for you. If we’d know you’d been shacking up with your whore, we would’ve come sooner.”
“You bastard, don’t you dare call Jaejoong a whore!” Yunho released Jaejoong’s hand, and before Jaejoong could stop him, Yunho was attacking Rain.
He didn’t know what to do. Call for help? Passers by would just think it was a drunken brawl, and police would arrest Yunho.
Suddenly, the third man pulled out a gun, and started shooting.
“NO!!!” Yunho fell to the ground, clutching his stomach. Jaejoong ran to ran to him, and supported him.
Fumbling with his phone, Jaejoong called 999.
“Please send an ambulance at once, I’m by the bridge at Wang di (A/N: ??, don’t ask, lol) apartment complex, my boyfriends been shot!”
The few minutes it took for the sirens to be heard through the traffic felt like hours to Jaejoong. Rain and his friend had scampered, and Jaejoong and Yunho were all alone.
“Jae...”
“Just hold on baby, the ambulance will be here soon.”
“Jae, I, I want you to know, I meant it.”
“Huh? Meant what? Yunho, what did you mean? Yunho?!” but Yunho didn’t reply.
The ambulance finally came, and they quickly wired Yunho up, hoisted him onto a dolly, and wheeled that into the flashing van. Without waiting for an invitation, Jaejoong climbed in the back, tears falling down his beautiful face like angel dust. Yunho was lying there, pale as death itself, and Jaejoong knew in his heart of hearts that Yunho was dead.
Yunho had a supply of oxygen over his mouth, and after a while, a weak hand pulled it off.
“Jae,” Yunho rasped, and Jaejoong nearly screamed in shock - Yunho wasn’t dead!
“Jae, I meant, that I loved you.” And then Yunho smirked at his love, trying to wipe the tears of his porcelain skin.
AHHHH! I hope this made sense...it’s my first oneshot, so I’m not used to having to tell a short story...
