My username came from a short-lived nickname "janabel" from high school days... there was some joke that I barely remember about me getting my first car and calling it "janabel's junkerbel". That never materialized, but when I signed up for LJ back in (gasp) 2004, I added the 'la' and here we are.

Mildly funny story: I once almost convinced my gullible/awkward boss that my real name was Janabella, and I just went by Jana for short. ;) Then one day in a meeting he called me "Janelle" and no one corrected him even though we were all with the confused faces. (Was it a joke? Did he really not know my name after 6 months of working for him? I still don't know.)

Yay! I love these more frequent Kate posts!!

My username is Gargamel's cat's name in The Smurfs, with the added "le" to make it girlified. I chose it because I love the 80s hardcore...I'm a total nostalgiphile and I thought it sounded really pretty when I heard it as an adult. I can't get it as a username anywhere else (even had to add the undserscores to get it here). I read somewhere that it is also a name for the "angel of death", so there's probably a lot of goth/emo/angsty teenager competition for it.

I always have a soft spot for bird names (for possible future kid names too?) I remember when we first got the webs, I signed up for chat rooms as "tanager". I might change to something like that or something more witty/meaningful like other pals have as their usernames.

I love you as azraelle, especially now that I know the origin.

Mine is easy. Nath calls me shelle belle, he is the one who got me to get a journal, and since he would be reading my posts it would be 'see'ing.
:)
