Bwah. So, reporting in, situation normal. I actually went to Isles of Darkness on Sunday, which was surprising amounts of fun. Well, Mage was, because we go and investigate stuff and steal shapeshifting Mega Carp velociraptors from Cambridge University. With Requiem, I just don't think I get on with the game. I intend to, but I'm trying to get as wide a view of children's literature as possible right now, so I'm reading the first of every major series and the ones I enjoy I'll continue with them at a later date. Means I can at least say, "Oh, I really loved the first one in that series" or recommend them for someone.

Also, I bought Graceling. That's top of my list once I've finished the mountain of books I borrowed from the library.

Eee, Graceling, yay!

What's it like reading for work, is it stressful working to a deadline, as it were? It sounds like you're reading stuff you wouldn't necessarily choose, which sounds rather fun!

It's not stressful because every part of it is voluntary, plus I get a nice shiny feeling every time I finish a book because suddenly I'm more informed about the books I sell. After years of never feeling like I'm doing enough reading for my literature degree, it's an enjoyably immediate payoff. Plus then I get to burble about it online, which is mostly useful for the fact that I a) read the book b) write the review and c) draft the review a few days later. So I actually remember a whole lot more about the book than I would otherwise have done.

I am reading things I wouldn't otherwise read, which is fantastic, as I'm discovering stuff I really liked, and reading stuff I've always vaguely thought I should but couldn't summon the energy. I'm not quite at the stage of reading Sarah Dessen real-world stuff yet, but I'm going to venture into it at some point.
