Pupils blown in passion, eyes sated black pools that reflected the soul; mouth slack with lips kiss-bruised red and full; hair a tangled mess on the pillow. That was the look Eric loved on Karl.
Or was it the cheeky grin and infectious laugh as they shot the shit with their friends at the pub? The low lighting made Karl's eyes the brown 'puppy-eyes' he often accused Eric of using to get his way. A few locks of hair refused to lay 'right'; one standing straight up from the crown of Karl's head. Eric imagined it a flag waving from Karl's animated head movements, drawing Eric's attention away from the pulse beating in his neck when Karl drained his glass of beer.
Perhaps it was when Karl's eyes flashed with a fervent green fire whenever he got caught up in discussing a subject near and dear to him. Long, graceful fingered hands sketching the air to emphasize his points, occasionally raking the hair off his brow, which ruffled it more and made another lock curl down on his forehead. Dimples would wink randomly as Karl's mobile lips formed his words, drawing Eric's attention solely to their perfect heart-shaped bow, the purr of Karl's speech washing over him more than what Karl was saying.
No, Eric decided; it was hazel. The colour Karl's changeable eyes took on when he was quiet and close enough that Eric could see every golden-green fleck. Eric lost himself in their depths as Karl straddled his thighs and settled on his lap.
"Hey; you looked lost."
"Only lost in you," Eric responded, reveling in the tiny spots of heightened color blooming on Karl's cheeks and the tiny lip quirk that brought out one dimple.
Yes, this was the look of Karl that Eric loved best.
