This is only my second week in California and there's already been an earthquake!  O_o  I didn't feel it tho.  I was driving to school.   Imagine the odds of that happening? I'm at my aunt's now and the news is starting to worry me.  So many locals are like, "Meh, that was nothing."  And all the transplants are all "It was my first earthquake and ( Read more... )

I know in Sac we get the shocks from San Fran a lot.
I've slept through them all.
Once, it knocked a PICTURE OFF THE WALL OMG SO SCARY! fema was called in, took them 3 years to send us a nail and a hammer
Now, TORNADOS... GAK! (runs and hides)

Small earthquakes aren't at all uncommon (click here if you willing to be a little scared), but the large ones above 6.0 are very rare. Plus, the farther you are from the epicenter, the better. Not going outside for a while to ride out the aftershocks, no matter how tiny, is a good idea too.

Large quakes tend to happen together, but I wouldn't worry about right now. Making a disaster preparedness plan should be now high on the list of things to do. I totally slacked on that, and have to get supplies ASAP.

I didn't know what to do if a quake strikes and I'm driving, but here's a guide by Progressive. Stay safe!

There had been no earthquakes for a while. No big ones anyway. Some sound ugly, like the earth grumbling and you can hear them coming. This one was quiet. It swayed side to side. And being on the second floor felt like the building was slow dancing. =O It was like 10 seconds of swaying and I was wondering if it was going to stop...

But it's not all bad! Welcome to California!! =D
