So I haven't really written up about my vacay and the pics are still sitting on my camera, but I will get to it at some point! Promise! It took until the airport trip home to even find a lined notebook to write in. Next time I take a trip like this, I'm going to spend the $$ for a netbook so I can type as I go along. OMG Turkey! Awesome! I would love to go there someday, just to see the Hagia Sophia. And I <3 Athens so much. We got halfway to the Acropolis before we all said, "Fuck it, it's rocks. Let's go shopping." Shows how cultured we are...

Well, you weren't half wrong - now it's rocks and scaffolding and a lot of 'do not touch the marble' signs that people ignore, so many of the rocks at people-height have graffiti carved into them. I mean, you can see the history, but the terrain is so rough at the top and the steps leading up have no handrails, so it's a rather dubious victory to get there. You make it to the top and sort of shuffle your way forward with the rest of the crowd and stop at the fence that blocks most of it off and take your pictures and shuffle back down again. :P (The temple of Olympian Zeus that I wanted to see isn't open to the public, as far as we could figure - it's right in the heart of downtown Athens and looks gorgeous from the street, though...)

Yeah, we bought postcards and went for spaghetti. LOL we suck. (Best spaghetti ever, though.)
