Kitteh SMASH!!

House was robbed today - Mom left for 20 minutes, came back and walked in on a robbery in progress. She managed to snatch her computer back from one of the fleeing chickenshits. The neighbors know it was a grey, late-model Toyota, because they got lost trying to flee the neighborhood and made a wrong turn ( Read more... )

oh god I am SO SO sorry. About all of that. Being robbed is such a violation, and to have taken your dad's ring... that's beyond the pale. People like that are vile. They read what it was, they just don't give a fuck because life owes THEM whatever they can take that's how they think. It's awful. I'm so sorry.

Hopefully your insurance covers the cost of the items, although I know no amount of money can replace your dad's ring. Perhaps they'll get caught and the ring will be recovered?

I'm hoping they'll recover the ring, because it has meaning beyond a dollar sign, but I doubt it. Mom and I are absolutely furious about that in particular.

The insurance policy has a cap on jewelry, so we're not getting much, but I may be able to at least get a new digital camera. Maybe. :P

The frustrating thing is that as far as the police department's workload goes, this is pretty far down their list of priorities. A neighbor was robbed a few years ago - they loaded her own car and drove off with everything she and her husband owned, including a safe they couldn't crack. They found her car three months later. No injuries means no priority. :(

I have three words for those little fucks.

Explosive. Ass. Prolapse.

If I could inflict horrific medical anomalies on them by the power of my mind alone, you would be reading about them in medical literature for years to come. Stealing your dad's ring when it was obvious what it was, that is unforgivable.

I needed that smile. Thank you. I *do* hope to read about them in the paper, whether because they got themselves destroyed by wrath from afar or I find them before the cops do (in which case I'll probably be reading about them from my own cell at the jail, but still).

=0 Oh HELL no. (But your mom is hardcore. And I like how your neighborhood conspired against them. Doesn't really offset the ohHELLno though.)

Useless police. I just finished reading about American police machismo and how anything nonviolent is not a priority because they can't use it to build up their bad-ass macho self-image. =\

Yeah, apparently mom just started screaming bloody murder at them when she realized what they were doing, and man, when she's mad, she's SCARY (I should know). So here's hoping they at least wet their pants.

Westminster PD doesn't have a lot of violent crimes to go on, but even as far as what was taken, damaged, etc, we're at the bottom of the pile. :( They were courteous enough about the whole thing, and I overheard the one gal dusting for prints in my room remarking that it was nice not to look at a "clean" house. Apparently, my bordering-on-hoarding behavior is refreshing? I know it saved most of my stuff -- too much crap to find valuable items (well, valuable to them. Value to me would be my kimono, etc).

I'm so, so sorry. I've been there, done that.

And it's not so much the stuff that you miss, but the memories and the sense of security.

Defintely sending my thoughts your way!

Yeah - I had a few nice pieces of jewelry (in the $200 range) that were stolen, but I'm MORE pissed at the cheap stuff, like a novelty watch from my dad and some souvenirs from our trip two years ago, because those MEANT more, yanno? Grr!

I've not been wanting to say anything, because for the emotional loss, there are really no words of comfort that I could provide.
But yes, this sucks, and I wish horrible things will befall the robbers. And I give hugs and a listening ear to you.
