I really need to write on this thing

I'm spending more time at the gym. Not buff yet (I like food too much for muscles to show up), but I can deadlift 115, bench 65, and squat 95 on a good day (bad knees = not many good days).  So that's nice. Aiming for three-digit numbers in all of the above, and the ability to do ONE un-assisted pullup before I die. So ( Read more... )

I'm working towards paleo, but I love things like chilaquiles too much to survive keto. ;)

Right now, my goal is to eat clean(er) and eventually eat clean. From there, I'll go paleo. The challenge is that living at home, Mom isn't on any such dietary restrictions, so there will always be "bad" foods in the house that don't qualify on my preferred eating plans. (I would LOVE to just empty the pantry of all but a few special-occasion cake mixes and start fresh...)

What does that mean? Eating clean and cleaner? Those sound like things people say, like organic, that don't have much meaning in my life. You want to wash it? :P Unprocessed maybe?

I guess I mean, why not just go paleo? I'm sure your Mom will be supportive of that choice of yours, but yeah of course there will always be bad foods! My kitchen is stocked full of bad food (4 roomies). =p

If you want it, do it. There will always be excuses!

Eat clean - removing processed foods, wheat flours and most refined sugars from my diet. No need to be a sarcastic schmuck about it. Try google next time; there are plenty of books and magazines devoted to it.

And it's great to give armchair advice, but I don't live at home because it's FUN. There isn't a budget to have two completely different grocery lists in this house. Mom thinks it's great I'm trying to be healthy, but she's also not going to cook and shop for two different diets and she's not willing to change. So I do what I can, and it's going to be slower than overnight.

So yes. There are "excuses" and there are economic limitations. Guess which one isn't alleviated by trite inspirational crap?
