Exactly how does Malcom Reynolds speak? I've decided it's what he doesn't say that makes him interesting. But how do you make him talk to other people in a story and sound just the way "mal Does" Driving me crazy. I'm just too stupid to figure him out. Frustrating! Kaylee I can write in my sleep and she's less learned than Mal. Everything

He's all gruff humour and doesn't do long ass speeches. It's like he is observing then reacting

It's like Western Movie meets SciFi Movie, I think. You've gotta get the accent, first, because writing something like "Hey guys, I'm feeling like some steak" is totally different if a southerner says it (more like "Hey guys, I'm feelin' like wranlin' me some steak" or something along those lines... I'm the worst Texan ever, apparently). But there's also the lingo, because there's the Chinese cussing and the slang, and all that.

That's the best idea yet! There are times when I get it just right, but they're usually one liners when he's pissed at Jayne. When in doubt mal hollers "JAYNE!"
