Looking through the recent entries of most of my internet friends, I've noticed that a good deal of them are rather fond of dogs. While that's all well and good, it leaves me to wonder if I'm the only cat person on this side of the country.

For some reason, that one in that picture reminds me of myself.
Must be the orange.

Now that you mention it, I do see it.
Haha, well if I end up keeping him, perhaps I'll have to name him Ichigo now. Though that would make it confusing if I ever blog about getting him neutered or some such thing....

.. I don't really like giving people the wrong ideas.
Though I'd be flattered to have somethin' named after me I guess.

Ishida Uryuu; found you over on Kurosaki's journal, I hope you don't mind. It's nice to meet you.
Sadly, I can't do much in the way of dining suggestions-- I've never been a fan of eating out in the first place. But I can relate to you with the cat subject. They're pretty independant; I don't understand why people would want an attention seeking dog that's always underneath your feet.

Pleasure to meet you Ishida. It's nice to see that Ichigo's friends are so outgoing.
I can cook on my own, but New York has spoiled me. And while I'm fairly certain I can make pizza from scratch, well, it won't be the same.
People take comfort in knowing that they're wanted, and that's what a dog does. Cats aren't pets for the weak of heart, since they can disappear for days at a time and show up on their own terms. Dogs are more trustworthy; cats are for those who don't have a lot of trust to begin with. But that's only my theory, at any rate.

Maybe homemade pizza is just the matter of finding the right recipe. You have to remember that restaurant kitchens don't have elves in the back; just ingredients. :)
Dogs are nice, I guess, but I prefer pets that are low maintenance. A cat might get upset if I'm not home to feed it on time, though... Hm. I've been debating on a pet, and I'm stuck on fish or a cat, actually.
It won't hurt to get settled in first, though, I suppose.
And if pets represent trust issues, your theory seems pretty sound to me.

I haven't had much practice in the kitchen, to be perfectly honest. When I didn't have the convenience of fast food, I had others cooking for me. I suppose I've been spoiled in more ways than one. Though no one can do as much with rice as I can, I must admit.
Beta fish are quite pretty, if you choose that route. Fish are also much simpler to maintain. If you're as focused on neatness as you seem to be, you might find a cat's shedding season to be a little bothersome. Especially considering that you're a student who probably has more important things to worry about than vacuuming cat hair from his bedsheets.
