Depends on how thick the wool is, what gauge you're knitting it at (how many stitches per inch), how wide it is, how much is in a ball ... Your best bet is to find a pattern of the same approximate width, using the same approx. thickness and see how much they call for, and for what length, and then extrapolate if the length is less than you want.
Always buy a ball more than estimated, of course, or you run the risk of not having enough and not being able to find the same dyelot. Keep the receipt and return any unused balls if the shop's return policy allows it.
