They weren't sure, in the end. At first we thought he'd eaten a mouse that had eaten Ratsac, but he hadn't. Ultimately it was neurological and he had multiple brain bleeds and significant brain damage and impairment. He couldn't walk or eat or go to the toilet. He lost 2/3 of his body weight. We could have spend thousands finding out what had caused the bleeds, but we couldn't fix them.
Did I tell you Lily's cat (who lived with my dad after we moved house and were not allowed to keep her) Rosie died a few weeks ago? She was really sick a while back - she just suddenly couldn't walk or eat. She was in the Werribee animal hospital for a few days in one of those breathing tents. They reckoned it was a parasite or something. She seemed to come good and she was getting better - bit slow and underweight, but seemed fine. And then one day she just died. Poor kitty. :-(
