Yesterday was really strange. No trains running at all, thousands of people walking home, bicycles on the highways...

I was struck most by how patient and calm everyone was. On the bus for 4 hours, up in each others faces, and getting progressively more uncomfortable, everyone kept their cool. There were still people waiting for buses at 2am at my station!

Trains are back up and running today, but everything seems pretty normal - most of the convenience stores have run out of stock here, though. And we keep getting aftershocks, which is a little unsettling.

Wow. It's hard to imagine being that patient, particular for people who have no idea what their homes might look like when they finally get there.

And we keep getting aftershocks, which is a little unsettling.

Hang in there.
