today marks a significant one-year anniversary for me.  that's right, one year ago on april 1st, i started the 30 day green smoothie challenge and the rest is history.  since then, i have started nearly every single day with a green smoothie.  there have been a few days when i didn't have time to have the smoothie before i left the house in the ( Read more... )

Congrats to you! And those smoothies sound delicious. Are they all made with a blender? I need to try them...

yup. i use my blender that i got at target - nothing too fancy, lol. add the liquid, then the greens, then the fruit, adding any frozen fruit last. cut big things into smaller pieces, lol. i usually pulse in the beginning for a few seconds at a time, until some stuff starts getting chopped up. sometimes i might have to poke things if it gets stuck, lol. i generally use the bananas frozen and the pineapple frozen, because that makes it more like a yummy shake. :D

Way to go, you! It's a great feeling to embark on a healthy habit, or to change a habit that does not serve you to one that does. It has to be done in baby steps, but it still gets the job done eventually: one day you turn around and find that you are living a healthy lifestyle. And that is a great feeling!

Congrats!

thanks, mimi. it is a great feeling to create a positive new habit. i've been seriously thinking about making a list for myself of these small accomplishments to provide inspiration for myself when needed. i've still got a way to go, but i'm quite proud of this accomplishment.

*high five of awesomeness*

That's wonderful! Go you!

I haven't managed to have one smoothie a day (or one nutri blast a day as I call them), but I love my Nutri Bullet ;-)

thanks! good to know you vote for the nutri bullet. i do want to upgrade my production system, lol. i'm still working with my target blender, and the motor is starting to sound like maybe i need to give it a break before it gives me one, so to speak. ;)

and i started with a 30-day smoothie challenge, so they provided shopping lists and a different recipe each day. the challenge made it easier to get into the daily habit, and after that, it just became a habit. now if i can't have my morning smoothie, it just doesn't feel right.

My mom's blender just died, and she started using the Nutri Bullet... She was blown away by how well it works! I love that little machine. Powerful, quick, and cleaning it takes two minutes. Only one important thing to remember: never put liquid past the "max" line. If you do that, it'll always work beautifully (people who complain that it leaks simply put too much liquid in it) :-)
