Stuff and Thangs

First of all, I do not have a tumor on my kidney, which is a huge relief, and was what I thought for sure was the case for about the last five weeks. I had a CT scan a little over two weeks ago, and just got news back yesterday, after I couldn't stand it anymore and called them, only to receive a notice from my Doctor in the mail today telling me ( Read more... )

Congratulations on the good news. I hope you can cure what ails you.

How hard would you say it was to work with resin? It's something I would definitely be interested in, and I'd love to see your work so far.

Thanks for the links! I love what you did in your second batch! The bunny one is my favourite. I can't wait to see what you did for the third.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost to get all of the supplies together?

The most expensive thing I bought was the respirator, for about 25 or 30 bucks, but knowing you, you might already have one.
The smaller can of Castin Craft resin runs about 17 dollars, and the catalyst, mold release, dyes (optional) and molds run about 5 bucks each , give or take.
I had some safety glasses already, and various dremel attachments to help with buffing. I also already had a casting kit for Alumilite, an opaque plastic resin, and I used the measuring cups and stir sticks from that.
You'll also need rubbing alcohol for clean up, but that's really cheap.
That should give you an idea of how much it would cost you...

Yeah!! I'm trying to make the most of living here, since otherwise it's pretty lame.

WTF! Why does it take them 5 weeks to do a CT scan and look at it and tell you it's not cancer on your kidney? Uuugh, I hate that.

My thoughts exactly!! Especially since this lady is treating me for generalized anxiety disorder! Throw me a freaking bone!! It took all I had to pick up the phone and call them, my heart was pounding and I couldn't breathe. For days before I called, I would freak out every time the phone rang, thinking it was them calling to give me bad news!
