Justin and I drove to Vegas last weekend to visit with some old friends of his from Houston. We stayed in old Vegas right at the end of the Fremont St experience, at the Plaza hotel. I think I prefer old Vegas these days, it's getting pretty cute

I think you just summed up some of my experience moving to Pittsburgh. I no longer dye my hair, I keep it rather short but messed up, something like David Lynch or Lyle Lovett. Two groups of people comment on my hair: black women in their 40s and white hipsters in their 20s. Go fucking figure.

Same goes for how I dress. I've gone closet-goth-industrial, I mostly wear 5.11, Duluth, jack boots, and my old motor officer jacket. Who likes it? Black women in their 40s who also liked my hair and goths who think I'm Neil Gaiman. :-)

I tend to call my personal style things like, "Casual Clown" and "Candy Hipster".
I am happiest when I feel free to wear what I want. I gotta get out of this desert.
But I do get compliments all the time, mostly from young ladies and little girls, occasionally, men will tell me that they appreciate my style too, but it is rare.
Ultimately, I think I like to interact with people, and I enjoy the dialogue that takes place. You could say I'm just looking for attention, and it would be true. I just don't think of that as a negative thing.

I know how you feel, it's hard to not think about unkind words, probably because they can get to us a lot more than kind ones. But that person sounds like a jerk, so pay them no mind! You're creative and awesome and cute to boot :3
