You're right - it is a consumptive, addictive process, and LiveJournal-like blogs only encourage and exacerbate the pressing need to document one's life. It's about experience, and then the display and the compartmentalization of that experience into a nice, shiny package.

But it gives people a voice, however they feel they want to enunciate it, and that's one of the things I appreciate about it. That, and the boobies.

Oh- and to clarify my hazey self, I meant it is consumptive behavior in the "consumerism" sense. (In the "wrong use of the word" sense.) Collecting experiences for the purpose of writing about them (whether intentionally or subconsciously) seems inauthentic and questionable to me. I'm aware of that cultural tendency and try not to participate in it. Not always successfully. I started thinking about this because lately I spend a lot of time on that other review site. (That I do because I get lots of clients there and the site's been good to me, but still...)

Look, boobies!

Yes, I rely upon those times. Perhaps, even, I'm at my happiest at times like these. I get Kirsten in writing...AND boobies!
