Originally posted to the TBDF - corrections and further input are welcome, I mean, I'm mostly regurgitating what I've read and translating it through my own filters. I think I get this stuff, but there's bound to be information I've missed.

@ Chiva Re: Your DK

There are going to be other people that will know better than me, will be able to expand &etc., but hopefully I can help provide a jumping-off point with my parroting.

Armory lists your Dodge as 22% and your Parry as 15%. EJ lists the impossible-to-hit caps for those at 88% and 47% - I am not sure if you've logged out in your tanking gear or not, a quick glance makes me think that you have. The less you get hit, the less damage you take, the fewer "OH GODS" moments you have; you'll have to lemme know, for sure, what those totals are when you get home and can look at the numbers live. I really don't trust Armory to tell me that because it's classically been rather unreliable.

This is the EJ DK FAQ. EJ isn't the be all and end all but they're really bloody helpful.

Regardless, from comparing your spec to the "cookie cutter" spec and the stuff I've been playing with as well, you're going to need to shift your points around. Scourge Strike is a very important (IMO) skill for causing damage and gaining aggro - Rune Strike aside, as that's obvious - and Unholy Blight helps a lot. With Unholy Blight, diseases, Blood Boil and Death & Decay, hey, things tend to stick (assuming DPS gives a couple of seconds' time for things to dig in). I love Bladed Armour. I love its AP increase. I love it to pieces.

Bone Shield has a two minute cooldown and I did notice that it seemed a lot slower than that last night - I don't have an explanation. I'm wondering if it's just post-patch craziness, I don't remember the cooldown being increased.

Your Glyphs look fine to me and I don't think there are any that would help with the squishy. I'll see if I can find anything snacky among the new ones. Something to note: The more avoidance you have, the longer Bone Shield lasts. Apparently. This makes sense to me - similar principle with Inner Fire helping a Priest's Power Word: Shield last longer.

For reference:

Cookie Cutter Spec
Chiva's Spec - sort of. Armory must be funky, there were points missing with no explanation that made me go "O.o Buh?"
A spec I'm playing with. Gahiji's points aren't distributed exactly like this 'cause I messed up yesterday. :|

The following points can be re-assigned:

2/2 2-H Weapon Spec
2/2 Icy Reach
2/2 On A Pale Horse

Although extra damage and a little more wiggle-room in terms of "How far away can I be to pull?" plus increased mount speed are wonderful, they don't seem to be completely necessary. 4% increased damage with two-handers is sorta nice but the difference can be made up elsewhere in procs or with other talents. My pull style consists of, "If there's only three and we aren't CCing, run in, drop Death & Decay and start beating the shit out of things", so the extra 10 yards on Icy Touch is sorta meh. Another tank may be more cautious. I'm not. I should be, but I'm not (overly cautious tanks drive me nuts 'cause I'm an impatient healer and DPS).

So, technically, that's six free points.

Suggestions on where to put those points:

- Runic Power Mastery - Now, you'll be generating a metric shit-ton of runic power as it is, and unless things change at 80, most DKs that I tend to run with usually have a decent amount of the stuff left over between pulls. This would be a judgment call.
- Blood-Caked Blade - More damage is always a good thing. I don't know of anybody that argues with that.
- Necrosis - Though there's usually some kind of skill going, this isn't really a bad deal; I didn't notice a huge difference to my damage from one spec to the next with leaving it out, though, unless it changed during the patch.

But, c'mon. Pale Horse is awesome. I can out-ride most other farmers, maaan.
