For what it's worth you can subscribe to individual shows on Hulu and receive email whenever new episodes of those shows become available. I find this rather handy.
Right, but the problem then is actually *watching* the shows. I like Hulu, in theory - when it works. But I have so many problems with the website, and what ends up happening is that I have to refresh - and then watch another ad before I can get back to my show. And then when I skip back to the place where I was, I have to watch another ad. And then it bugs out again. Rinse and repeat three or four times, and I'm done
( ... )
Hulu+ still has ads, just a wider selection of content (& access on other platforms - tablets & consoles), unfortunately.
Yeah, it'd be nice if there was easier access - in terms of services you can actually download (DRM'd) content from, iTunes and the Google Play store both offer this service & I believe for some shows it's fairly current - maybe a day or at worst a week lag rather than the more DVD kind of timeframe of Netflix. Amazon also seems to offer downloadable, same-day release episodes of some things (I'm using "Once Upon A Time" which I found in Google Play's popular TV show listing, as an example/reference point - it's also available streaming for free with only a day lag on the ABC website: http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time but that's presumably still got ads there, whereas I believe the purchase experience on Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes is just the episode, ad free & downloadable (with DRM, of course)).
Yeah, I usually hit the network websites first, but they are notoriously terrible. The CW has some of my lazy/easy shows, and it is unbearably buggy sometimes.
I'll have to start looking on iTunes/Google Play for things, see how current my shows are. Thanks. :)
