There are also going to be some new girls who aren't being shown yet -- specifically, I noticed that the curvy girl with burgundy hair in the center of the first pic on the main Barbie site isn't available.
Yeah, I hope joints evolve, but I was pleased at the price point.
Ok, so shoes: "There will now be two Barbie shoe sizes, one for curvy and tall and another for original and petite." It seems like some are flat and some are arched, but that might just be due to the rubbery feet? They can usually be squished into either if the shoe is made properly. Some of the shoes are fantastic! (Kat doll fits into the newer flats, and has big dolly bewbs so I am selfishly interested in allll of it...)
That blue hair girl caught my eye too!! She seems like a really nice proportion to make clothes for. But I'd have to see in person. It would be nice if the monster high dolls had a body like that! Those wiener dog bodies they come with are tooooooo tiny and strange to see for! Oh hell no! I cannot read he comments of articles. People are soooooo mean on line I can't stand it. And I can guarantee you anyone making fat Barbie comments are not a slender person themselves.
Hahaha weiner dog bodies! You are not wrong, even though I love them. That's what's funny -- she is literally just curvy and feels a lot closer to pretty normal proportions all around. I am excited about a lot of the faces/ skin tones!
True! It's ALWAYS nice to see dolls with different skin tones!! So fun to play with! I have ONE Blythe that is black (she was customized to be dark dark skin)--the face is great, but the body of course peels off...lame.
I know it, but I am hopeful that will come later. Some of the articulation on the newer Mattel dolls is pretty great.
Oh man! It took me a minute to figure out heat they were standing in for, ha. Are people buying those for their intended purpose at that price point? So neat!!
I personally think Matel is barking up the wrong tree. Both Monster High and Bratz bodies are less realistic than Barbie before the big change up. What Matel needs to do is come up with some kind of uniting back story like MH & Bratz have. At least that's what I think... ^_^
I get that, but Barbie has never had too much story outside of friends and careers. (Though there are side lines with DVDs and definite story lines and characters.) I think it works for her to be open for imaginative play and these dolls really push that a bit further. I have seen quite a few women posting pictures of new Barbies that look just like they do and that's exactly what's so neat about this campaign to me. I guess we'll see how it shakes out!

Some of them can't be bought at the moment, and I figured out that it's the ones that come with extra outfits -- hope they put them up on the site soon.
