First actual update in like two weeks. What have I been doing? Lots, fortunately and unfortunately. But only because I've been scraping my me time together in fragments again. Not feeling depressed though, only icky because of a cold.
On the 27th I went to the International Ceramics Festival 08 in Mino. It was awesome~~~ So many beautiful and interesting pieces of work. Sadly pictures were not allowed but I bought the book. And they have a virtual version of the exhibit online
here.
This,
this and
this were my favorites. Unfortunately the picture for the first one kind of sucks. It was hundreds of little sheep trying to express the low levels of happiness in Japanese children (even though they have the newest stylish clothing and expensive gaming systems...), and the problems that societal pressure can cause. The dishes look so interesting! And the flowers were just pretty. Each about as wide across as my palm.
Afterward we visited the Wedgwood exhibit upstairs, made some pottery, and went shopping. It was cool.
Last weekend I went to Nagoya with Raven and we saw some live music out on the streets in the evening and she did some clothes shopping.
Sunday was June's Birthday Party. She's Yumiko's niece and she's only just turned 12, I think, but she got hit by a car the week before and it shattered the base of her spine. Luckily there is no nerve damage but she does have to stay in the hospital lying down for a month in a cast that goes from her hips to her armpits. Yumiko says that after the birthday party she was much more cheerful so I'm grateful I could help! She's such a sweet little thing!
Oh, and yesterday Knit Club started again for the year. It was great to see some of the girls I haven't seen for months. And one of them is pregnant! It's exciting. She may have hundreds of baby booties and blankets and the like by the time it comes if we are allowed to start making her things.
