Oh my. It seems every time I look away from this blog it's been twice as long since the last post. Dedicated blogging is obviously not something that comes naturally to me.
Anyway, things are moving into a pretty laid back summer over here.
It's getting hotter, temperatures generally ranging from 25-30 with a humidity of 70-90%, and usually more humid than less. Rainy season. This means of course that I am spending more time flopped across my couch under my fan than at my computer, which is hot and in the room with less air movement. The bugs love it (aside from the occasional pouring rain) which makes for some cool sightings and interactions (long horned beetles~) but it's also working for the spiders so I have had a few less pleasing run-ins as well. Like the one who found her way through the shower vent and then dangled in front of my face. Ugh.
I've already been out with the knit club on a picnic (we found the perfect gazebo out at the park in Tanigumi) and a temple wander. K and T showed us where you go underneath Tanigumi temple into the dark tunnel. You're supposed to look for a key but we didn't manage to find it. Have to go back and look again.
There are also a lot of interesting movies coming out. I have been to see Transformers Revenge twice (don't worry, I am keeping most of my squee in my fandom) and am planning to see Monsters vs Aliens and Harry Potter 6 before I go home for my summer vacation. Or at least M vs A. I think that came out a while ago in N.A. Has Harry Potter come out yet? Dad, if it hasn't do you and Luke wanna go watch it with me?
Hm... other interesting things? I visited an amazing flower garden in Mie-ken with Yumiko last weekend. Tiers of Begonias up the walls and giant baskets hanging from the ceilings in the special begonia rooms, a room of fuchsias, and lots of hydrangeas. Gorgeous place. They're having a cosmos event in the main part of summer that I have to go to.
Recently I've also started trying to adjust my diet to the prescribed levels of salt per day. It's really friggin' hard. Especially since I found out that sometimes school lunch is 130% of my daily salt intake. Not always, but it's close to or over 100% way more often than it should be. (I don't know where it's coming from. Few of the dishes taste salty at all. The soup's actually been quite bland since the menu started changing) So I am also trying to up my potassium. Apparently that helps the body cope with excess salt. We'll see how it goes.
Oh, on another science note, I hung out with my science club a bit last week. It's full of cute geeky little boys and the club teacher is one of my favorites! I think I shall hang out with them more in the future, when I can. The little first years let me look at the single-celled organisms they were hunting with microscopes.
My life is exciting. It's just my personal kind of exciting :)
P.S. Hollie! Out on the picnic we saw one of
these up close and personal (not too close though). They come into my town sometimes, too, but seem to be more common in the mountains. Really pretty and scary at the same time!
