I’m in my homestay and this is really awkward! I’ve already made a huge mistake. A. only has one parent, M., both Ms D. and I assumed it was her mother. It’s her father. Luckily her grandparents also live here, because the father only speaks a few words of English, nowhere near enough for a ( Read more... )

Dear God, am I jealous! I've been in love with Japanese culture and language for years. I didn't know you shared that interest; how awesome! I've always assumed that I'd live in Japan at some point in my life, maybe as a language teacher. I'd also want to learn more about my Japanese heritage. My father, who I've never known, is supposedly 3/4 Mayan Indian from Guatemala and 1/4 Japanese. I always wondered how my Japanese ancestor/s ended up in Central America. I always assumed it was because of the flood of Japanese-Americans fleeing the internment camps here in the U.S. during WWII, but I could be wrong.
Those first two pictures featuring Sakura trees are breathtaking. We actually have tons of those trees here in Reno but nothing would beat viewing their bloom on their home turf! And the second to last photo of the Peace Memorial reminds me of the Japan Town district in San Francisco. Amazing. Great post!

SNAP!
Would you believe that I'm thinking of moving to Japan to teach ESOL (English language) in the next year or so! I teach it now, here in NZ, but I want to go back to Japan (preferably Kyoto) and work there at some point!

All the photos in this post were taken by my best friend (referred to as J.) on a disposable camera. She then scanned them into her computer when we got home and I enhanced them slightly in iPhoto. She definitely did a better job than I could ever hope to do!

I've got two more Japan posts coming too (about Kyoto and Tokyo) and I've also done another one about Osaka, I'm not sure if you've already seen it here: http://kiwiholly.livejournal.com/186957.html

Hi! :) I love Japan! I've been there twice but never to Hiroshima!

I hope you don't mind me adding you :)

Reading this was such a great help. Anti aging skin products is such a complicated thing and this article explained it well. Many thanks to this new information.
