*~* Chapter 4 *~*
A week went by. Justin and I talked on the phone everynight. We were actually becoming really good friends, and it sort of seemed like we were going out because sometimes he would call me just to say goodnight and that he couldn’t wait to see me again. I wished he would ask me out. I couldn’t wait to see him again either. Luckily, neither of us had to wait long. By this time, I was leaving the next day to go out to Cali to live with him for two months. I was in the middle of packing my things when there was a knock on my bedroom door. I figured it was my mom who I was I spending the day with, so I just said “Yeah Mom?”
The door opened and Justin walked in. “No one’s ever called me Mom before.” He said.
“Justin!” I exclaimed and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Hey.” He said with a smile and he lifted me up in a great big bear hug.
“What are you doing here?” I asked looking into his eyes. He set me down but kept his arms around me.
“I told you I couldn’t wait to see you.”
Ooh I wanted to kiss him! “That’s sweet, but really, what’s the reason?”
“Really, that is the reason. I want to take you out to dinner.”
I wanted to say yes, but I had promised my family that I would go to dinner with them since I was moving away for a while. “Oh Justin! I’d love to, but I promised my family I would go to dinner with them.”
“Oh…” he replied and I could see the disappointment in his eyes. I felt really bad. Maybe my mom would let me invite him to come with us.
“Stay right here for a second.” I said. “I’ll be right back.” I ran down the hall of my apartment to the living room. “Mom, can I invite Justin out to dinner with us?”
“I guess, but I was hoping it would just be family. You’re going to be living with Justin for two months.” She replied.
I sighed. “Yes, I know, but he invited me to go out and was disappointed when I said no.”
“He can come.”
“All right. Thank you.”
“We’re leaving in thirty minutes.”
“Where are we going?”
“Taste of Texas.”
“Ooh! My favorite! I’ll be ready in a bit.”

I invited Justin to dinner then sent him into the living room while I got ready. When we got to the restraunt (Justin, My Mom, and I) my dad and my sister were waiting for us. I introduced Justin to my dad and right as I was about to introduce him to my sister she freaked out. “You’re Justin Guarini!!!” she squealed. “Can I have your autograph?”
“Lindsey!” I said scoldingly “He’s my date. Could you please not do this?”
“Oh okay.” She said and she squealed again.
“Let’s go sit down.” My dad said.
“Good idea.” I replied. I was so embarrassed. I couldn’t believe my sister was acting so immature. I’d wanted this date to be perfect, and I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be.
“You okay?” Justin whispered in my ear and he put his arm around me. I nodded and we went to sit down. I was right, the date was far from perfect. It was obvious that Justin and I were both nervous. I spilled a glass of wine on him and he spilled almost a whole bottle of ketchup he was passing to my sister all over my khaki skirt. When I got up to go to the bathroom and try to clean it up, I tripped over my own chair and fell. Justin got up to help me and collided with a waiter. It was just horrible! I was glad when it ended. After dinner, my mom dropped us off at my apartment building.
“Can I walk you up to your door?” Justin asked me.
“If you want to.” I answered.
We started walking toward the stairs that led to my apartment. “You know Kaylee, I had fun tonight.”
“You’re just saying that.” I replied.
“No, I really mean it. I enjoyed being with you. So it got off to a rocky start, but after that everything was fine.”
“I was afraid you were going to leave after I spilled wine on you. I was so embarrassed!”
“I got you back by spilling ketchup on you.” He joked and he sort of tickled me. “Besides, you spilling the wine on me, or me spilling the ketchup on you, wasn’t half as embarrassing as me accidentally playing footsie with your dad.”
I giggled. “You accidentally played footsie with my dad?”
“Yes, I did. Since you were sitting next to him I thought I had your foot but it turned out to be his and he gave me this look from hell. Needless to say I did not move my foot over to that side of the table the rest of the night.”
I laughed again.
“But seriously…” he said. “I really like you. I just wish I hadn’t been so nervous on our first date.”
“I was nervous too. It would have been a better date if my parents and little sister weren’t there.”
“Tomorrow night when we get to Cali I’ll take you out and show you around.”
“It’s a date.”
He smiled. “This is your place isn’t it?” he said motioning to my door.
“Yeah, it is. Thanks for keeping me company tonight.”
“No problem. Thanks for taking me out.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow then. Bright and early.”
“All right. Goodnight Justin.”
“Goodnight.”
There was awkwardness between us for a minute. We just stood there for a minute staring at each other. Then I said “Goodnight” again and turned to go in the apartment.
“Kaylee…”
“Yeah?” I replied turning back.
“There’s something I’ve wanted to ask you ever since the moment I met you.”
“What would that be?”
“Can I kiss you?”
I smiled and answered. “Yes, you can.”
He pulled me gently so I was against him, wrapped his arms around me, and then softly kissed me. I kissed him back the same way then I let him explore my mouth a little bit. We stood there kissing for a few minutes. Then, he pulled away. He smiled at me and told me goodbye and then he left.
