Have you seen the film yet?? I was terribly dissapointed.

Yeah, I did, but I really liked it! Perhaps it's because my expectations were utterly base, but I really enjoyed it. What did you dislike (BESIDES THE ENDING, of course ;)).

I just thought it was lacking any depth, I didn't empathize with any of the characters and it just seemed like they were skimming through the main plot points check-list stylee without exposing any of the depth underneath.

Looking at it through innocent eyes (I loved the books) I failed to understand why any of the characters were helping, it just seemed as if people were throwing themselves at Lyra to help out because it was convenient to the film as opposed to any of their own motivations.

There were a few high points, the look and feel of the tech was spot on, Lyra wasn't bad as far as child actors go, the Daemons themselves didn't feel overly CGI and the Icebear stuff was brilliant.

But overall the film was just ... flat.
