Good grief, who'd have thought the French would do such a thing? I'm shocked and disappointed.

So where is left, now, where one can smoke in a public enclosed space?

Seriously, I know! I feel so silly; last week my mother mentioned something about a smoking ban in France (randomly) and I snorted and said "France? Smoking ban? Nah!"

I think Greece and areas of the Baltic haven't legislated a smoking ban just yet, so next time you're in Bosnia - woo hoo!

I can report that Germany's still happily puffing away, which was... unexpected.

hell has frozen over--it's -5C in Florida!

The smoking ban is incredibly silly, but it's the EU--the EU, for better or for worse, has turned into give up all of your sovereignty for a few smiles.

Even Mexico--the government is trying to put one in, but so far, the populus has told them where to go...

WHAT!? Holy crap, it's that cold in FLORIDA?! Ha, my uncle's going to be pissed, he's just travelled there for a holiday.

And a smoking ban in Mexico? Hm. Where next, Colombia?

I'm in North Florida--but even Miami is like 4C, I think.

Mexico City passed it, but the people have enough sense to tell the government where to go.

So did the French--or so I thought.

(oh a true story: it snowed in Florida many years ago--that truly was hell freezing over!)

P.S. I blame big business here for it at least in theory. The people who make the nicotine patches are the ones (through foundations) funding all of the smoking ban initiatives. How *convenient*

I still can't believe London fell over for it!

I come from a place that has proper weather. I left to get away from it. If I never see snow again, I will die happy.
