Gameplay wise, I feel that Rockband is a better game series. If you have any current gen systems (Wii, PS3, 360), probably the 360 and PS3 have the best options for downloading songs/content and online play. Even with Beatles rockband, they actually have other songs for the Beatles that they'll release through the music store (right now all they have is "All you need is love"). Generally, all the game controllers work between the two games if you decide to jump into it at any point. I personally play the singing part mostly (which has nothing to do with coordination, lol) then I'll work on drums because I enjoy getting better at that. That's unfortunately the most expensive part. Guitar is cheap, you also could pick up a cheap mic somewhere by finding like an old karaoke revolution bundle.

Also, many stores that sell used accessories tend to have a cheap mic or 17. I see them for as low as $10
