Ah HAH! Warning: WoW post.

I was pleasantly surprised today while trolling the WoW forums. Some one actually posted something useful on the priest forums. It's a nice page setup to show the differences in healing between the classes that can and how the spells relate to each other even after you add in talents and +healing gear. Read more... )

Resto druids are nice, but I still think Priests make better emergency healers. In a pinch, that > healing / sec is better and PW:S is a lifesaver. That aside, I do agree that priests needs some loving.

And the paladin roll is the stay alive while healing - something that's harder for the priest to do.

True, the emergency healing part of the priest is nice with PW:S and flash heal, but one would hope to not need to be in an emergency situation. And the main bit about the paladin was because I know there are people and guilds out there who believe a paladin's main job endgame is to spot heal and nothing else. With the build I worked with Darthos, I think he's viable for #1 on damage for us. Really depends on how comfortable Xaun gets with her hunter.

The other...."interesting" thing I found today was this. It appears that Europe is getting more blue responses than us on their priest forums. And by more I mean we haven't gotten one since the blue responded to the "You will melt faces..." post. It's also a nice look as to what they'll be considering. I can't wait for the patch notes to come out.

Yeah, I like the fact that we don't always just follow the norm when it comes to a class. I especially like how any of the classes with a little work and skill can do what you want (paladins heal, warlocks tank...)

As for the paladin - I do believe that end game they should be spot healing. They should be spot healing at any level really - they're support healers. However, that doesn't mean they have to be in the back - you can still spot heal from the front for most situations (except things with AOE stuns...). The only cause I see them having to be in the back is if you need massive cleansing (similar to the Luci fight, but with poison/disease instead).

Yes, paladins should spot heal. But our definition of spot heal (up front, doing damage, healing whenever) isn't the same as other people's definition. My Shaman in MC was technically a spot healer. And all I really did was stand there and heal. That's about the most people expect from paladins.
