Pulitzer-winning fanfic

I penned a few fanfic stories years ago and have read through some of the occasional heated word-wars that break out over the legitimacy of fanfic, like the flare-ups that raged in the blogs earlier this year over Robin Hobb's rant. I would have also pointed out, albeit in a non-Pulitzer context, that Gregory Maguire has gone a long ways towards legitimizing "fanfic." If you're using the Pulitzer as the benchmark of literary legitimacy, then yeah, I may just be agreeing with you here.

Now that fanfic has won the Pulitzer, can we please declare the fight about its moral legitimacy over?

The moral legitimacy of fanfic, or the moral legitimacy of the Pulitzer Prize?

I have nothing to say about fanfic. (Actually, I do have something to say, but I won't.) But I really don't have anything to say about the Pulitzer. I am just an old, old friend who thought this would be a funny place to drop you a line. Come to Denver sometime, dear. I am poor and can't afford to travel to you.

Is that maga_dogg guy flicking himself in the head?
