I resisted for a long time. Years. But I was given Restoree and I remember stopping about page 10 and saying "WHO wrote this book?"

And then I read everything else by her I could find.

She wasn't the first woman SF writer I read, but she was one of the best.

Very, very sad. But I'm glad she wasn't ill, but died quickly after a stroke.

Some of her later works needed better editing than they got, and some became rather formulaic, but she did write some masterpieces.
