The New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Yay or Nay?

I'm curious about you folks' opinions on this, for those of you who've managed to get your hands on it. This is the first Mario game in a LONG long time that has sparked my interest.

I dunno yet. I haven't yet the chance to play it, though I would love to.

I take it the first New Super Mario Bros. didn't interest you?

Music is bad. Lame, terrible, uninspiring.

There is also much collectathoning and toad-chasing.

Atmosphere is a 3D knockoff of Mario 3. I don't know what to think about this because the music killed it.

But the game is as challenging as promised. I've been watching my bro play.

The difficulty is very good to hear; that's one of the aspects I was most hoping for in this game!

As for collect-a-thonning goes, some of my favorite games has GOBS of it!

That's why I mentioned the collectathoning. :D Expect red-coin challenges and super sekret big coins to find in each stage.

The game is awesome and I've really been enjoying it. It's pretty difficult, especially compared to the more recent games, and the level designs are really good. I enjoyed it much more than the DS one, which I can barely remember.

This game IS difficult!

The fact that the control is similar to that of the original SMB is a BIG part of that.

Good by itself, and greater if you have friends to play it with. Especially cooperative ones.

If I were to play Galaxy, maybe I'd like it; I won't rule that out. But a big thing I find appealing about the New Super Mario Bros. Wii is that it's a traditional platformer.

There is a lot of fidgeting with position and direction in third-person 3D games, and it detracted from all enjoyment I had of SM64. Especially the later levels. So I naturally look at Galaxy and think I'll experience the same thing.
