Did Your Polling Location Change?

Nov 03, 2014 23:18

OK puppies and kittens, over 30% of Somerville residents will be going to a NEW polling place this election. If you previously voted in a fire station, the odds are good that this includes you! You should've gotten a letter notifying you months ago, but in case you lost the letter, you can always check here: election, democracy, voting, somerville, vote

So, what's up with that? Did the SFD decide that we were interrupting their cheesey daytime tv time?

Lots of complaints from election officials and voters alike about the cold and the noise, as well as the dirty and chaotic nature of the fire stations.

A couple of them were due to things like school closures (e.g., due to burning down) which have since been rectified and are simply moving back.

Meanwhile, in Oakland, your polling place has probably changed, City Hall is closed "for the holiday," and neither the State nor Federal buildings have polling facilities.
