Beta'd:
destiny393 Jared never knew that three days could last so long. He had enjoyed spending time with his parents, he hadn’t seen them in months, and having a beer or two with his brother. He almost felt at ease. But then something would catch his eye, or he would smell something familiar and it would remind him of what he left behind: Jensen.
He tried so hard to just enjoy himself and treasure the time he had with his family. But it just didn’t feel like it used to, it didn’t feel like home. Jared often reached for his phone, just to make a quick call. Each time he began to dial, he would slide the phone shut. He knew that if he phoned Jensen, it wouldn’t just be a quick call, and it would more than likely end with him booking an early flight back to Vancouver.
It was easier during the day, hanging out with old friends and spending time soaking up the sun. His body had almost forgotten what it was like to be warmed by the sun, nowadays it was used to a different kind of warmth; the warmth of his lover’s body close to his. Jared smiled at the thought as he reached for his shades, something else to remind him of the one he left behind.
The first two days were not as bad, but that last day before he was flying out seemed to drag on forever. It was almost as bad as the nights had been. They were the worst. When he got into bed each night, he slept in the room he had grown up in, he would lie awake for so long. It was unlike him to have trouble sleeping, but each time he closed his eyes he would see the face he longed to touch. He didn’t think he could miss Jensen so much. Being away from him made him realise how much Jensen had become a part of his life. He would toss and turn for ages before he finally drifted off to sleep. He last thought was always of Jensen, always of the man he loved.
Soon the hours turned to minutes and after he had said all his goodbyes, short as they could be, Jeff was driving him back to the airport. His body seemed to know where it was going, his muscles relaxed and his heart beat steadied. Relief was painted on his face. Jeff couldn’t help but notice the sudden change in his brother as he helped him with his luggage, but he didn’t say a thing. As long as he was happy.
Waving goodbye and thanks, Jared all but ran to get his plane. He had plenty of time, but he just couldn’t bare to wait any longer. The sooner he was home, the sooner he saw Jensen, and the sooner he tasted his sweet lips the happier he would be.
