if strangers ask again, you should just say that you have "someone" because then you won't be lying and they are left to assume whatever. But strangers suck in general.

Just out of curiosity, what does one say instead of Hispanic? Latin American?

You should specify their country of descent. Or ask them how they wish to be identified.
Generally, Latino refers to people of Latin American descent living the U.S. But, a lot of people don't like being categorized like that. Latin American refers to people living in Latin America.

Oh. Good to know. Thanks Lauren. I'll keep that in mind although I think I'll stick to calling people by their names. I get myself in awkard situations whenever I talk about any sort of ethnicity.
