geez - that's a long time ago!

hmmm, I was engaged and a full time career girl. We had both bought new cars and were paying them off (the one I had to sell when I got pregnant for the third time). I was furiously trying to pay off the credit card from my trip to Europe to year before.

Children weren't yet on the horizon, neither was buying a house, or even living with a full time military man. My parents had moved to nearby us, my brother was living in Ireland with his new wife.

I thought nothing of paying $120 for a haircut and colour, or a new skirt, or pair of shoes - these things were essential. I could travel away for the night for work with just a small carry on suitcase and a briefcase.

I had also not heard of Harry Potter and devoured romance novels and Judith Krantz.

I was trying to lose the weight that I have since lost and put back on and am again trying to lose! *grrrr* I guess some things never change :p

Wasn't it, though?! Your ten years sounds much like mine! It's nice to know I have company. It goes by so quickly and yet, we wouldn't trade a minute of it.

I hope your family is safe and breathing a bit easier. Take care!

1999 was the year Mackenzie was born so it was the best year of my life. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't work so Grant got to take off three months of work to help with the baby instead. We shared a house with my parents, separate living spaces of course and so I had even more help with the new baby. We owned a home across the street and had rented it out so seven months after Mackenzie was born, the guy who lived there stopped paying rent and stiffed us for four thousand dollars in total by the time we were legally allowed to kick his sorry ass out. So we moved into the house after he was gone, not wanting to get ripped off again and we had major renovations because the guy had basically trashed the house with filth ( ... )

I know what you mean! And that's the reason I've always cringed when people say their wedding days are the most important days of their lives. Nothing compares to holding your child for the first time, biological or adopted. Absolutely nothing.

Back then, Mackenzie had six uncles, now he has three. He had two grampas, now he has one. Time is a giver and a taker. You put that so simply and so beautifully. It is often painful to be reminded that being on this earth is not an entitlement. It's a gift and one that should not be wasted or taken for granted, no matter how easy it is ( ... )

Wow....1999 I was still in high school. I wasn't blogging and I was just starting to get into writing. I also had my permit for driving and was looking forward to driving without an adult in the car with me.

Looking back, A LOT has happened since then. I've grown up. There have been good times and bad times. I try to focus on the good. I would never have imagined I would meet so many great people through writing.

Thinking back to 99...so much is happened in 10 years, it is mind blowing.

Ten years is mind blowing, isn't it?! A little outside of ten years, the year was 1995, and I remember sitting in a meeting about some new fangled thing called the World Wide Web and how many companies had websites. Two out of the twelve did.

The beauty of time passing is we do grow up. Thank goodness! :)
