That particular version of Norton software causes problems unlike any I've ever seen with versions bought at a store or directly from Symantec. The newest version of NIS may cause more problems than the older versions in general though. I haven't seen much of any of the non-Verizon versions of it yet to be able to say one way or the other.
In the hands of someone with the knowledge and desire to troubleshoot the firewall settings, it would probably work just fine, but I don't know why someone with that knowledge would want to pay Verizon a monthly fee like that. For my clients, most of whom barely understand what a firewall does, and a few friends who I've helped over the phone, it is a disaster. It blocks common programs from connecting with no notice that it is doing so.
I did the 30 day test drive and bought a cell phone. I read through their tedious contract. I took the phone back after 14 days because I didn't connect at the beach or in Raymond.
I received a bill for $90.00. When I called on it, I was told I had to port to another provider...
I had a conversation in the store in which the sales girl said, "you just need to transfer your number to another carrier..." (I know, I didn't clue in here)
But, I did say, "I won't transfer to another carrier, it will be Verizon or nobody." The sales girl didn't say a word.
I challenged the bill, accused them of deception and threatened to sell my $500 of Verizon stock. So far, I haven't seen another bill. I guess I scared them.
I'm not hearing good things about Verizon. That stock still might get sold.
You won't hear good things about Verizon from me. I refuse to buy internet service from them. Slow and reliable is better than unreliable and provided by Verizon.
