(no subject)
all my little brother tommy's friends now know, fridays = bro day. i picked him up from school and we drove down to a car wash. i'd agreed to pay him $5 to wash my car. i initially felt bad because my car hasn't been washed since jan when i drove it to whistler and back. since then, i'd always had the ski rack on and just haven't been around enough to get it done. so tommy and i pull up to the car wash, and find that 3 minutes on the self wash costs $3, and the drive thru also costs $3. of course we opt for the drive thru. after we're done, tommy turns to me and says, "now you just have to give me $2". he's eight!
after that we head for Sketch - a popular ice cream place (according to yelp). on the way, tommy recognizes that we're also on the road to the berkeley marina. he turns to me and says, "let's go to adventure land instead!" -- a park by the marina. i ask him whether he'd prefer it over ice cream, and he says matter of fact-ly, "we should do something that's fun and good for you - like the park, instead of something that's fun and bad for you - like ice cream. it's bad for your teeth, you know." this is my mother's doing.
at the park, we played on the swings. then we played tag - little guy can run. for the first time in a long time, i got grass stains on my knees. then we skipped stones. then we made a cool rock collection to sell to my mom - she's a geologist.
good times.
