I'm finding Phoenix rather enjoyable. I am here for a seminar on the Health Initiative, but we finished that this afternoon and now I'm gonna enjoy some of the nightlife here. Surprisingly (to me) there's a very large gay population here and people are VERY friendly in greeting a new boy from the east coast. Having undergone major redevelopment in recent years, it is clean and pleasant, although I am experiencing some kind of geographic/culture shock because of the southwest architecture and a city having been built in the desert. Not much grass, yards consisting mostly of rocks and cactus. Though it was a comfortable 88 degrees today, I understand the summer is hot as hell and 110-115F is not uncommon then. But, overall I give it a pretty good rating and yes, I got laid earlier tonight by the cutest cowboy type! Did you ever notice what jeans do for nice, round asses?

Yes, I have noticed. :)

I have heard about the summer heat in Phoenix, but I presume that it's more bearable because of the low humidity. Even so, in that kind of climate, I would want to be in the shade -- or better yet, in a cool basement or swimming pool.

The ironic part is that I'm sure there is a government agency researching this.
