I don't think anyone uses LJ anymore.

There are some of us who do. Though I read more than I write. It's not the world's greatest rss feed reader, but that's one of the uses I have for it.

Yes, I read your entries. You're one of the few who regularly post. I got tired of hearing crickets, so I quit posting here. Just how it goes with any platform, given time.

Hey, what am I, chopped liver? :P

More seriously, RSI = less writing in general, so thinky posts are harder to do. Not that I don't want to, but I kind of like having feeling in my hands and want to keep it for a while.

Yes.

Actually, I'm well aware of your joint problems. Still, the fact is I could probably count the regular posters on one hand and at some point, either we'll all drift away or LJ's purpose will change.

It's always a bit sad watching it happen, though.

Well, since you've not really commented much on my entries (and not many people do, seeing as they've more or less migrated to Tumblr and that foul fiend FB), I can't presume everyone on my friendslist knows what's going on with me.

It's kind of sad - I remember when skipping a few days' worth of LJ reading would mean skipping=100 or more; now it's more like skip=40, tops.

To be fair, it happens with every platform. I mean, we could sit here and reminisce about when fandom was on usenet/email lists/bbboards/individual archives/etc. But it's always sad watching it happen.

But, Tumblr and FB do solve one of the chief complaints many of us had about LJ. They possess instant 'like' features by which a reader might indicate that have read/agreed/sympathize with your words while expending minimal effort. A lot of times, it's all you have to say.

I'm here. I mostly read what's said. I hardly post anything anywhere unless something major happens, in which case I'd rather not use Facebook because I can't figure out how to friends lock it.

That is LJ's one major advantage, the ability to restrict reader access to specific entries. I like Tumblr, but it's extremely public and unfriendly toward commenting in a more private manner.

Never tried tumblr or Pinterest because I'm afraid that social networking will devour my life quite easily.

i still read, but every time i go to write an entry i feel like i have nothing to say. Still holding out, though, as tumblr's entertainment value goes way down when you can't see the pictures.
